Aspire Volleyball Coaching Staff

Sharon Vanis Sharon is a highly respected high school volleyball coach who is currently the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach and Athletic Director at Hamilton High School for the past 5 years. Sharon has 12 years of head coahing experience at the college Division II level and brings a strong reputation for developing highly competitive volleyball teams to the Aspire family. The Aspire athletes will greatly benefit from Sharon's 17 years of competitive volleyball coaching experience.
   
Suzanne Stonebarger Suzanne is currently one of the top ranked professional beach volleyball players on the AVP tour. Suzanne finished the 2006 AVP season with the 2nd most digs on the tour. Prior to turning pro, Suzanne was a member of the US National team after completing 4 years of Division I volleyball as a starter at the University of Nevada-Reno where she was ranked 1st in career digs, 3rd in career kills and sixth in career aces. Suzanne will be working directly with the Aspire Elite athletes helping them hone their skills to compete at the highest levels.
   
Karen Gray

Karen Gray is currently an assistant JV and Freshmen volleyball coach at Hamilton High School in Chandler. Karen began playing volleyball at age 14 and following a successful high school career in Maryland, she earned a full volleyball scholarship to Villanova, a Big East NCAA Dvision I program. Karen held the all-time kills record at Villanova for more than ten years and won several all-tournament awards as a middle blocker during her collegiate career.

After college, Karen played the middle blocker position for two USAV Open Nationals teams, including a team with former ASU players and a former Olympian.

   
Jonathan Gray Jonathan played for the ASU Men's Club team that placed 2nd at the Men's Indoor Collegiate Club National tournament in 1995. A primary passer and outside hitter, Jonathan led teams to 4th and 7th place finishes in the Open division of the USAV National Tournament in 1994 and 1996. For ten years, Jonathan has played on one of the top Open division USAV teams in the Cactus Region.
   
Lyndi Wright Lyndi is currently the Assistant Varisty volleyball coach at Gilbert Christian High School. Lyndi has 3 years of USAV head coaching experience at Aspire and as the head coach of the 15-2 team for the Oklahamo Charge volleyball club in Oklahoma. Prior to coaching, Lyndi played at the highest levels of USA Juniors volleyball at the libero and setter positions. In 2002, her 17's team won the national championship in Salt Lake City. Lyndi was selected on the All-Tournament team at the nationals that year.
   
Shannon Krug Shannon joins the Aspire family this year bringing with her a history of playing on championship teams both in high school and in Division I college programs as well as coaching the 15-1 team last season for Club Pacific in Northern California. Shannon was the starting setter for all 4 years of her Division I college career playing at both the University of Utah and the University of the Pacific. While Shannon played at the University of Utah for her Freshman and Sophmore seasons, her teams made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament both seasons and won the Mountain West Conference league championship where Shannon was named setter of the tournament. Shannon then transferred to the University of the Pacific so that she could play for Charlie Ward as the starting setter her final 2 years in college where she led the league in assists both seasons.
   
Livia peace Livia is currently the head varsity volleyball coach at Horizon Honors High School. Livia was the 4 year starting outside hitter for Vanguard University in California where she graduated in 2004. We are very excited to have Livia join the Aspire family this year.
   
Sonrisa peace Sonrisa is currently the head junior varsity volleyball coach at Horizon Honors High School. Sonrisa was the 4 year starting middle blocker/outside hitter for Vanguard University in California where she graduated in 2004. We are very excited to have Sonrisa join the Aspire family this year.
   
Bill Zimmerman Bill brings 18 years of experience in coaching volleyball both with USA Volleyball and at the High School level. Prior to coaching, Bill played volleyball within the USA Volleyball organization. His enjoyment of seeing young volleyball players mature and improve throughout the season is what keeps him engaged in the sport that he loves. Bill's extensive coaching experience brings a wealth of knowledge to the Aspire team.
   
Jessica Lindgren Jessica joins the Aspire staff just completing her 4 year Division II college volleyball career as the 4-year starting libero for Western New Mexico University where she attended on a volleyball scholarship. Jessica is an accomplished volleyball player with an excellent grasp of teaching the fundamental volleyball skills necessary to help our athletes excel.
   
Scott Lloyd Scott is the founder of Aspire Volleyball and begins his 7th season as a volleyball coach. His passion for the game and the love of seeing young athletes blossom to reach their full potential continues to fuel the excitement at Aspire Volleyball.
   
Carlos Flys Carlos brings 10 years of coaching youth sports to the Aspire Volleyball family. Five of those years have been spent coaching competitive volleyball. Carlos' love of volleyball began as a youth playing competitively in Madrid, Spain and continues today. Carlos brings a reputation to the Aspire family for developing fundamentally sound volleyball athletes.
   
Dr. Jay Golden Jay is in 6th season of coaching youth volleyball where he has focused on developing fundamental skills for girls under 12. His east valley teams routinely have played up in age and won many of their tournaments. Jay began his interest in competitive volleyball in Los Angeles where he played 3 years varsity and continued to play in leagues while playing varsity lacrosse in college. He now just focuses on coaching and uses his teaching skills as a professor at Arizona State University to impart the fun of the game and sportsmanship to his players.
